Field to Vase Floral Bouquet CSA Terms and Conditions
SECTION 1. INTRODUCTION
Becoming a Part of Our Farm. Our Field to Vase Floral Bouquet CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, works just the same as a vegetable CSA. It is a relationship between our farm and you, our customer. Rather than simply purchasing flowers, our customers become “members” of our farm who receive a portion of our harvest.
We offer two options:
-
Our Summer Half Share Session runs through the months of July and August during which each member will receive 4 bouquets, one every other week
-
Our Summer Full Share Session runs through the months of July and August during which each member will receive 8 bouquets, one per week
Our Flowers
Our Growing Practices. We value the importance of living in an intentional manner that is respectful of the earth and all that call it home. We strive to cultivate our flowers sustainably in a field where nurturing nature through biodiversity and without harsh chemicals is top priority.
The Flowers We Expect. We aim to make our bouquets filled with about 12-15 stems that are hand tied and tastefully presented in a recyclable brown paper wrap for ease of transport, ready for you to display in your own vase. Your bouquets are designed according to what is currently growing, and you can expect to see flowers like snapdragons, cosmos, zinnias, lisianthus, and sunflowers. Please keep in mind that weather, pests, and other events will affect actual production.
Session Dates. The start of the summer sessions is flexible and based on seasonal conditions and product availability, but in general covers the period of July and August. Sunnylea Farm will communicate via email to inform all members of updates and actual start dates, and it is your responsibility to contact the farm via email if you are not receiving notifications near the specified start dates shared in the product details.
SECTION 2. OUR SHARED COMMITMENTS
Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure. We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share of premium flowers each week. The quantity of flowers, however, may vary from week to week and season to season due to extreme weather, insects or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members.
In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows: If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If a large portion of crops fail, thereby prohibiting the ability to meet our high standards of bouquet quality, you will be refunded a percentage of your payment in accordance with the weeks remaining in your session.
Sharing in the Rewards of Crop Surplus. When crops are especially abundant, we pack as much as possible into your bouquet. However, we don’t want to overwhelm our members or deliver so much that it goes to waste. In addition to our CSA, our farm sells to restaurants and wholesale distributors. We balance priority of the CSA with our other markets. This allows us to select a consistently full and diverse share to our customers while avoiding over-delivering any one product.
SECTION 3. RECEIVING YOUR BOUQUET
The Summer Full Share Session runs for 8 weeks, during which you will receive 8 bouquets. Any missed weeks are forfeited and may not be "made up" after the session ends.
The Summer Half Share Session runs for 8 weeks, during which you will receive 4 bouquets--one every other week. Any missed weeks are forfeited and may not be "made up" on an off week or after the session ends.
At the time of purchase, you may choose to arrange for pick up from our farm on Fridays between 4:30 and 6:00, or have your bouquets delivered to your door for a nominal fee. If you are out of town or unable to receive your bouquet for any reason, it is your responsibility to find a substitute to take your share. If you are unable to receive your bouquet or find a substitute to do so, you will not receive credit or a refund for any bouquets that you do not receive and it will be donated at the discretion of Sunnylea Farm.
You are also responsible for observing our pick up and delivery rules, which are as follows:
-
Delivery: Delivery is available in the Greater Cazenovia area only. It is imperative that you be home to receive your flowers--bouquets are hand-tied and wrapped, not in water, and will decline quickly if not attended to immediately. If you cannot be home, please make arrangements for someone to receive your bouquet at your home. No replacement bouquets will be provided for flowers not received in person.
-
Pickup: Pick up your bouquet on Fridays between the hours of 4:30 and 6:00 pm. Although we offer premium cut flowers, they will decline quickly if not picked up on time. If you cannot pick up your bouquet, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. You are responsible for explaining the pickup location and procedures to your substitute. No replacement bouquets will be provided.
SECTION 4. FLOWER CARE
Flowers are a perishable product, with a variable vase life of 3-7 days. While we will be diligent in offering only flowers in peak condition at the time of harvest, all varieties have a different vase life, dependent on care. Please refer to Tips To Get the Most Out of Your Bouquets for best results. Sunnylea Farm will not be held responsible for shortened vase life or poor quality once you receive your flowers from the farm.
SECTION 5. MEMBER FEES
By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase seeds and equipment before the season starts. We greatly appreciate your commitment and timely payment.
There are no refunds, either full or partial, for cancellation of a CSA share once purchased. You may choose to find an alternate person to buy out the rest of the season’s share, and the share ownership will be transferred to the alternate person. The alternate person will pay the original shareholder directly.
SECTION 6. COMMUNICATING WITH US
By signing up for CSA, you will be added to the weekly email list, and you agree to add sunnyleafarm@gmail.com to your email contacts. This is how we will communicate updates and changes, as well as what will be in your bouquet each week. Sunnylea Farm will not be held responsible for miscommunications due to our emails going to your spam folder. You agree to notify the farm immediately if you do not receive your weekly emails.
If you have an immediate concern, please contact us at 315-657-5458. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but please understand that we spend most of our time in the field growing your flowers.
All of our customer information is kept strictly confidential. We do not release any information to anyone regarding our customers. We do not sell or make our email addresses or mailing list available to any other parties or companies. The registration website is a secure site where your personal and payment information is kept safe to the best of our abilities.
